Rawlings' Family Allegedly Fighting Over His Properties

Late Rawlings and his family

The late President Jerry John Rawlings' estates become a battleground as his children fight over property sharing.

Davasnews.com has obtained exclusive details of serious in-fighting within the family of late President Jerry John Rawlings over the estates left behind by the former President.

The 73-year-old Rawlings died on November 12th, 2020, at the Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Ghana.

He "officially" left behind three daughters; Zanetor Rawlings, Yaa Asantewaa Rawlings, Amina Rawlings; and one son, Kimathi Rawlings.

Mr. Rawlings, born on June 22, 1947, led a military junta in Ghana from 1981 to 1992 when he contested and was elected Ghana president, after which he served two terms as a democratic president until the year 2000.

Following his death, his family is heavily divided over the sharing of his estates, which include many landed properties, cars, gifts, and valuable artifacts.

Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings is said to have lost control of the situation, with the children not paying heed to her as they seek to grab one property or the other.

Details obtained by davasnews.com indicate that the expansive Adjiringanor residence of the former President, in particular, has led to a big fight between Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings and Amina Rawlings.

Whereas the elder daughter claims it, Amina is also said to be interested, telling the others to grab other properties available and leave that for her.

Repeated attempts to mediate on who gets what has left many of the kids unhappy.

On one hand, is the matriarch of the family, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, and on the other hand, are the kids who are each trying to lay claim to one property or the other exclusively without sharing it with anyone else.

While the Ridge residence is occupied by Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings and has become the de-facto family home for the entire Rawlings family, including the kids, the sharing ratios of other properties of the ex-President, including houses, cars, farms, and lands, have led to physical fights between the family members.

Adding further complexity to the dispute, there are allegations of other kids allegedly fathered by Jerry John Rawlings, unbeknownst to the public, who may also have to be sorted out if their claims stand.

The Rawlings family's legacy is now clouded by these internal conflicts, bringing into question the unity that once bound them together.

The ongoing feud not only threatens the family's harmony but also raises concerns about the future management of the late President's considerable assets.
