Football superstar and longtime partner tie the knot in Cascais after a decade together, exactly one year after announcing their engagement.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez are officially husband and wife. The couple married in a civil ceremony on Tuesday, Aug. 11, in Cascais, a coastal town near Lisbon, Portugal — the same city where they own a villa.
The wedding was described as a private and intimate event attended by the couple's five children.
Ronaldo confirmed the marriage himself, sharing a photo on Instagram of his hand resting on Georgina's, both showing wedding rings, captioned with heart emojis and the initials "C❤️G." The post reportedly drew more than three million likes within 30 minutes.
Ronaldo, 41, and Rodriguez met in 2016 at a Gucci store in Madrid, where she worked as a sales assistant while he played for Real Madrid.
Rodriguez has called it "love at first sight." The couple made their first public appearance together in January 2017 at the FIFA Best Football Awards, and Ronaldo publicly acknowledged the relationship that May.
The wedding date carries special significance: it falls exactly one year after Georgina announced their engagement on Aug. 11, 2025, when she posted a photo of her hand resting on Ronaldo's, showing a large diamond ring, with the caption "Yes I do. In this and in all my lives."
In the weeks leading up to the wedding, Portuguese media speculated widely about where the ceremony would take place, floating locations including Sintra and Madeira, Ronaldo's birthplace.
One report claimed the couple would marry at a church in Funchal, Madeira, drawing hundreds of onlookers, but it was later confirmed that no ceremony was scheduled there. The couple ultimately chose Cascais instead.
Ronaldo has five children. His eldest, Cristiano Jr., was born in 2010; he has not publicly disclosed the identity of the boy's mother.
In 2017, twins Eva Maria and Mateo were born via surrogacy, the same year Georgina gave birth to their daughter, Alana Martina.
In 2022, Georgina gave birth to twins — a daughter, Bella, who survives, and a son, Ángel, who died shortly after birth. Rodriguez has also helped raise Ronaldo's other children. The family currently lives in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Together, the couple has amassed more than 750 million social media followers and has expanded into ventures beyond football, including fashion and hospitality.
Ronaldo recently played in his sixth World Cup for Portugal, a record he shares with Argentina's Lionel Messi. Over a career spanning Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Saudi club Al Nassr, he has scored nearly 1,000 goals and won the Ballon d'Or five times — second only to Messi's eight.
He captains the Portuguese national team and signed a new contract with Al Nassr last year, keeping him at the Riyadh-based club through 2027. Al Nassr opens its domestic season on Saturday.
