Three suspects are detained by the police after a robbery attack on a Tarkwa gold-buying shop.
In connection with a robbery attack on a gold-buying shop in Akoon-Tarkwa in the Western Region, the police have detained three suspects.
On April 18, 2023, the suspects Ezekiel Stephen Oghenekaro, Samuel Amoashie, and Fatawu Awudu, together with three other suspects, stormed the gold-buying shop and fled with an undisclosed sum of money.
Following the incident, the Police conducted an operation against the gang the same day, and three of the suspects were captured in the nearby bush near the townships of Esuosu and Benso.
Three motorcycles and a sack laden with an undefined sum of money thought to be the loot from their raid on the shop were found when they were searched in the bush.
All of the accused were later brought before the Tarkwa District Court on April 21, 2023, and were remanded into safe custody with a court date of May 3, 2023, set for their next appearance.
According to a police statement, an intelligence operation is being conducted to identify and apprehend the other gang members so they can face justice.
