Mobile Money Vendor

Bright Okwara and Ferdinand Obi, two Nigerian citizens, were sentenced to 40 years in prison for robbing a Mobile Money vendor with a revolver.

On Tuesday, May 17, 2022, the inmates are said to have robbed Hassan Nuru Yaro, who had just withdrawn GH11,800 from the bank.

The robbery incident happened in the Central Region near the Kasoa New Market Junction.

Detective Sargent Addai Boamah, who represented the defendants, said the court, which was presided over by His Worship Ebenezer Osei Darko, that the inmates followed their victim on a motorcycle from Kasoa New Market to Market Junction, where they held him up for ransom.

The two were apprehended after Hassan Nuru pursued the thieves and smashed their motorcycle.

20-year sentences were given to them apiece after the judge determined they had committed robbery.

The victim reportedly expressed happiness with the conviction of the two and thanked Sergeant Addai Boamah, the case's detective, and the presiding judge for doing him justice.
