Flood in Ghana

Several hours of rainfall in Akwadum Zongo in the New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern Region caused hundreds of inhabitants to flee their houses.

The Densu River, which flows through the hamlet overflowed its banks at approximately 10 a.m. on Sunday when the rains had intensified yesterday.

In the process, thousands of properties were lost. Residents warn that if the rain continues, things may get worse.

The personnel from the Eastern Regional Headquarters of the National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service when they got to the scene in response to distress calls from locals, they were rendered useless since they were unable to approach the village owing to the floodwaters.

Since then, commuters and travellers in the Koforidua Suhum area have been left stuck.

In an interview with Citi News, some company and property owners who have abandoned their shops and homes made a plea to the government to help them in these tough times.

Below are some photos from the flooded areas;
