The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Honourable Kennedy Agyapong has disclosed he will not be contesting for the parliamentary seat in his constituency in the 2024 election.

Kennedy Agyapong in his last 24 years has been serving as an MP but he plans on ending his work in the parliament when his current parliamentary tenure comes to an end in 2024.

His decision of quitting the parliament is influenced by the desire to allow others to explore their political chances to bring more development in the area.

Kennedy revealed this in his speech when addressing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Faithfuls in Assin-Fosu during their Annual Delegates Conference.

According to the controversial politician, he is positive he is doing well for his people but some section of the people thinks he is doing less.

I’m doing a lot for my people but a whopping 42 per cent of the electorates in the 2020 polls think I’m not doing well, so I’m leaving but would wait patiently to see if any MP can do what I did, he said.

He emphasized that no amount of influence will make him change his mind about quitting parliament.

Even if I’m given 1,000 cows, I will not go back because I want the people to know that I am fighting for their well-being and not myself as an MP,  he added.

Kennedy, therefore, urged the party supporters to stand behind the party to enable it to emerge victorious in the 2024 general election.

I entreat you to stand firm and defend the government as measures are being put in place to improve the economy to bring relief to ordinary Ghanaians, he stated.
