The incident which happened in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region led to the arrest of a 26-year-old Dovi Tsidi who is also a resident of Mafi Dove.
Dovi Tsidi who is popularly known as 'Land Guard' is believed to be behind the murder of the boy.
Two other suspects have been arrested by the Aveyime Police Department and are currently in police custody assisting investigations.
In an interview monitored by davasnews.com, the Assembly Member of Mafi Dave, Mr Moses Kwasi Awukuvi Danyevor revealed that the suspect lives in the same house with the beheaded boy.
He also revealed that the incident happened on Sunday evening at about 8:40 in the evening after the killer took the deceased to a lakeshore in the area called Mlagoe.
An eyewitness upon hearing the continuous screams from the side of the lake went further to know what was happening at that time of the night.
He quickly ran back and inform others so as to help arrest the suspect.
He quickly rushed back to mobilise the town folks in an attempt to arrest the suspect after sensing danger in his first attempt, but the suspect had left the scene using a canoe that was at the shore of the lake together with the deceased, Mr Awukuvi said.
After a search for the suspect, he was later found at a prayer camp called Shelta Pentecost Ministry at Mafi Aflokope.
Information gathered reveals that the suspect was instructed by the leader of the prayer camp to bring her a human head.
The incident has however plunged the residents of Mafi Dove into deep fear.
