Shaquil Barrett's two-year-old daughter tragically drowned in a swimming pool and died.
Following the accident in the pool at her father's home in Tampa, Florida, Arrayah, the youngest of Barrett's four children, passed away on Sunday, April 30.
At 9:30 am local time, officers responded to a call reporting a child who had fallen into a pool.
The little child was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital, where despite the best efforts of the medical team to preserve her life, she was unfortunately declared dead.
According to a statement from the Tampa Police Department, an investigation is continuing and "it is not believed to be suspicious in nature at this time, but a purely accidental and tragic incident."
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have Barrett on their roster, released the following statement: "Today's devastating news is heartbreaking for all members of the Buccaneers family.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaq, Jordanna and the entire Barrett family during this unimaginably difficult time.
"While no words can provide true comfort at a time such as this, we offer our support and love as they begin to process this very profound loss of their beloved Arrayah."
