Christian Atsu, a former Ghanaian player, sadly died in the February 6th earthquake that rocked Turkey and Syria.
Atsu, who was only 31 years old at the time, was one of many persons killed in the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that destroyed and decimated communities.
Liberian President George Oppong Weah, a former professional footballer himself, has sent a delegation led by Pastor Kwame Ayew to offer condolences and a $10,000 contribution to Atsu's family.
The crew paid a visit to the Twasam family and expressed Weah's heartfelt sorrow for their loss.
On Sunday, a cargo jet transported Atsu's remains to Ghana. His one-week observation period has been scheduled for March 4, 2023.
