Lasmid Explains Why He Sings Mostly In English Instead Of Fante

Lasmid, a Ghanaian artist and composer better known as Nathaniel Owusu, has explained why he prefers to sing in English.

"I didn't plan with my management to sing largely in English, but huge shout-out to Papa Kaywa since he occasionally likes that I perform my Fante raps," he explained.

"But I feel that maybe if we do the songs for everyone across Africa to be able to comprehend, at least as far as English is concerned, everyone understands," he concluded.

The 'Friday Night' hitmaker revealed in an exclusive interview with Amansan Krakye through Showbiz on Property that not everyone will understand if he sings in Fante.

"As for the Fante language, not everyone will comprehend it because there are individuals who speak Twi but do not understand the Fante language," he stated.

"Sometimes the people in other tribes who don't understand Twi would understand you fine when you speak English that's why we thought that if that's true then why don't I sing all my songs in English?

"So that everyone who doesn't understand Twi or Fante would at least comprehend my songs in English," he said on Property Radio in Cape Coast.
