Morocco will host the FIFA Club World Cup in 2023, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said at his final press conference before the 2022 World Cup.
According to Infantino, the FIFA Council approved having the seven-team competition in North Africa at its most recent meeting. The competition will take place in Morocco from February 1 until February 11.
Morocco will host the Club World Cup for a third time this year after doing so in 2013 and 2014.
The winners of the top club championship from each of the seven continents will compete in the event.
Wydad Club Athletic of Morocco, the 2021/22 CAF Champions League champions, will represent Africa.
In Qatar 2022, Morocco created World Cup history by making it to the semifinal. On Saturday, they will play Croatia in the third-place playoff.
