Former Ketu South MP Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey has been elected as the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) new General Secretary.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who held the job for the previous 17 years, is replaced by him.
The party's delegates gave Fiifi Kwetey the nod during the recently ended National Delegates Congress, which was held in the Accra Sports Stadium.
Peter Boamah Otukonnor PhD and Elvis Afriyie Ankrah put up a fight, but Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey prevailed.
According to a message Fiifi Kwetey uploaded on social media, Otukonor has conceded.
"My Brother and Comrade Boamah Otokunor called me a few minutes ago to congratulate me. Very gracious of him. I had earlier told him yesterday that I was proud of his competitive campaigning and I repeated same this morning. I reassured him of my complete readiness to work closely with him to make our party greater and stronger."
