Asiedu Nketia Wins NDC's National Chairmanship Position

Asiedu Nketia National Chairman of NDC

Johnson Asiedu Nketia has been elected as the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) chairman for the ensuing four years.

This follows a contentious election between Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the current National Chairman of the political party, and Asiedu Nketia, also known as General Mosquito, Nii Armah Ashietey, and Samuel Yaw Adusei.

Asiedu Nketia received 5,574 votes, or 65.17 percent of the vote, on election day, while Samuel Ofosu Ampofo received 2,892 votes, or 33.81 percent.

Nii Armah Ashietey and Samuel Yaw Adusei, two further contenders, also received 38 and 52 votes, respectively.

The challenge of leading the party to victory in 2024 will fall to Asiedu Nketia.

A key test of his leadership will be whether he holds Samuel Ofosu Ampofo responsible for the party's inability to compile its results and eventual loss of the 2020 election.

After the election fallout, it would be expected that Chairman General, as he is lovingly known by his supporters, will bring the party together.
