President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed worry over his government's failure to overcome galamsey activities in the country.
The President expressed his deep concern that despite the investments made in the battle against illicit mining, it continues to be a significant issue in the nation while speaking to the National House of Chiefs in Kumasi on Wednesday, October 5, 2022.
He claims that in the future, he thinks the government would need to work with the traditional chiefs to combat the threat that is eroding Ghana's water resources and forest reserves.
The President urged the National House of Chiefs to remember that while he is not against mining, he is opposed to mining that would devastate water resources and forest reserves.
He also urged the traditional leaders to do their part to ensure Ghana succeeds in its battle against illicit mining.
