An individual reported to be in his early 20s was carried away by the sea tides at Anomabo in the Central Region's Mfantseman Municipality.
The unnamed man reportedly came to the town for an event and was on his way to the beach to heed nature's call when the incident happened.
He was advised from urinating in the water, according to an eyewitness, but he disregarded the warning.
The man insisted, saying that the sea wind made him feel wonderful when defecating in the water.
In the cause of it, strong tides struck and carried him out into the sea.
The Best Fisherman for the Anomabo Community, Nana Kwame Sankah, confirmed the occurrence to Class News' Nana Tawiah and said that this is not the first incidence to have happened in the neighbourhood.
He expressed amazement at how far the deceased was able to go and sit on the stones and defecate.
In addition, Mr Sankah demanded a stop to the practice of open defecation into the ocean.
He revealed that the locals would perform rituals in the water and ask for forgiveness for the deceased so they might find his remains.
Despite the large number of fishermen who have gone out to sea to look for the deceased's body, the search has not yet turned up anything.
The Anomabo Police Station is now investigating the incident after receiving a report about it.
