Former Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and flagbearer aspirant hopeful for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Kojo Bonsu is proposing the party chooses an Ewe as running mate for the 2024 general elections.
Mr Kojo Bonsu is optimistic that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) can win the 2024 general election with ease if they choose a running mate from the Volta Region who is an Ewe.
He has also said he will choose his running mate from the Volta Region if he becomes flagbearer.
"Statistics show that when NDC gets more votes in the Ashanti Region it wins the election. I have said that when I become the flagbearer my running mate will come from Volta Region", Hon Kojo Bonsu told Kumasi-based-radio Sompa FM.
The former appointee urged the leadership of his party not to only boast of having the Volta Region as their stronghold but make sure they offer people of the region the opportunity to equally lead them.
"We have been boasting of Volta being our ‘World Bank’ but I don’t call it so, I say it is our backbone and they’ve been there for us irrespective of the issue", Mr Kojo Bonsu told Omahene Yaw Adu Boakye, host of the show.
According to him, even when the government in 2020 sent military men there, they still showed their love for the NDC.
"Because of that, I would like to choose a Voltarian as running mate. We have to show them that they are part of our governance", Hon Kojo Bonsu said.
