The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has banned the two likely presidential primaries contestants Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and John Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng and their followers from active campaigns.

On Tuesday 27th July 2021, the executives of the ruling NPP party issued a code of conduct to instil discipline and regulate the code of conduct of party members prior to parliamentary and presidential primaries of the 2024 general election.


The code of conduct which was formulated in accordance with article 18 of the New Patriotic Party's constitution is applied till the general secretary of the party officially declares the opening of nominations for prospective candidates for presidential and parliamentary primaries as stated in the party's constitution.

It stated that sanctions like fines, suspension and expulsion will be imposed on any member or supporter of the party who fail to comply with the code of conduct.
