The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kumasi based football club Asante Kotoko has revealed the possible cause for not being able to win this year's Premier League title.

Nana Yaw Amponsah has associated the club's inability to win the league to not playing their home matches in Kumasi in the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko was forced to look for a different place to play their home matches when renovation work at the stadium began.

They initially selected Accra Sports Stadium for their home games but later switched to Obuasi in order to reduce costs.

The CEO of Asante Kotoko Nana Yaw Amponsah, in an interview with Happy Sports, said his team could have won the league smoothly with 10 points gap if they had played the home matches in Kumasi.

If we had played at the Baba Yara Stadium, we would have won this league with 10 points gap because, at some point, we were leading Hearts of Oak with 4 points but we thank God we didn’t disgrace ourselves, considering all the disadvantages, he said.

According to him, if the team had played the home matches at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium the home advantage part of a football game would have stopped some of the unfavourable decisions against Kotoko from some of the referees.

Some of the refereeing decisions that went against Kotoko this season, I believe if it was at the Baba Yara Stadium, the fear of God will be in some people. We all know that home advantage plays a key role in our football, he added.
