Sad news for Ghana and the whole of Africa as former President and military man Jerry John Rawlings is Reportedly Dead.
The sad incident which has pierced the heart of many Ghanaians happened at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.
According to our report, he died today 12th November 2020 after a brief illness.
The hero who died at the age of 73 last month buried his mom.
He was born in 1947 on the 22nd of June in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.
Rawlings was born to a Ghanaian mother from Dzelukope in the Volta Region and to a Scottish father.
The news about his death, when shared on social media, has attracted a lot of sympathizers from both the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the biggest opposition party National Democratic Congress (NDC) as well as members of other political parties.
He was loved by all because of his discipline and his unquenchable love for his country Ghana.
Rawlings was married to the former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings and they had 4 children together.
He was the first President of the 4th republic and rule Ghana from 1993 to 2001.
In 1967, Rawlings completed Achimota College and joined the Ghana Air Force.
He was famous for his bravery and skills in aerobatics.
He named as a pilot officer in 1969 after winning the 'Speed Bird Trophy' being the best in flying the Su-7 ground attack supersonic jet aircraft.
His determination later earned him the rank of Flight Lieutenant in 1978.
He has achieved a lot for the motherland Ghana and his name will forever be in our hearts.
