In a daring incident, armed robbers seize the Fisheries Commission Director's vehicle at gunpoint in Tamale, Northern Region. Concerns grow as robbery cases surge.

In a shocking and audacious act, the official vehicle of the Savannah Regional Director of the Fisheries Commission was forcibly snatched at gunpoint in the city of Tamale.

It has been confirmed that the incident unfolded late at night in front of the director's residence located in the Bi-water suburb of Tamale.

Details from the scene indicate that the director had just returned home when two armed assailants confronted him.

With weapons pointed at him, the robbers commandeered the Toyota Hilux double cabin Pickup, which bore the registration number GV 301-22, and sped away from the scene.

Local law enforcement in Tamale has confirmed the occurrence and expressed their intent to pursue the criminals relentlessly.

This incident serves as a disconcerting reminder of the increasing rate of armed robberies in the Tamale Metropolis.

Similar cases have plagued the city in recent years, illustrating the brazen nature of such criminal activities.

Notably, in July 2019, the then Savannah Regional Minister fell victim to a similar robbery when his Toyota Hilux pickup was snatched by armed men while he was away on a flight to Accra for an official meeting.

Further highlighting the disturbing trend, a Landcruiser Prado was reported stolen in April 2022 from its owner in Jisonayili, a suburb of Tamale.

The victim, known by his peers as Captain, recounted the harrowing experience of being accosted by two gunmen as he was leaving a nearby establishment.

The attackers swiftly took control of the vehicle and sped away, but Captain's quick thinking paid off as a vehicle tracker he had installed provided critical information for the subsequent pursuit.

These recent events have cast a shadow of concern over the security landscape in Tamale.

The surge in armed robberies has sparked calls for enhanced security measures and more proactive efforts from law enforcement to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents.
