Celebrated Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, widely known as Lilwin, has boldly declared that the Ghanaian movie industry is not as lifeless as many perceive it to be.
Speaking at the media launch of his highly anticipated movie, "Mr. President," Lilwin expressed his optimism for the industry's revival.
The premiere of "Mr. President" is scheduled for Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the Royal View Cinema, SG Mall in Kumasi, and it promises to captivate audiences with its intriguing plot.
During the launch event, Lilwin emphasized the need for a dedicated ministry or commission to be established to focus on the movie industry's rejuvenation.
He argued that having a comprehensive film policy or a film commission would enable the industry to explore new avenues and overcome its current challenges.
“There is no way that a single ministry can effectively cater to the needs of tourism, culture, and the arts industry. We need a full-fledged Ministry of Creative Arts that can give the movie industry the attention it deserves," Lilwin passionately stated.
Acknowledging the efforts of his fellow actors and actresses, particularly those based in Kumasi, Lilwin praised them for their contributions to keeping the film industry alive.
When questioned about the inspiration behind "Mr. President," Lilwin expressed his desire to invest in his own craft, considering the financial constraints currently faced by the movie industry.
He revealed that the film explores the dynamics of curiosity and how it influences governance, human expectations, dealing with disappointments, and achieving success through the pursuit of discovery.
Throughout the event, Lilwin expressed gratitude to several individuals, including Father Dickson, CEO of Tobinco Pharmaceuticals; Samuel Amo Tobbin, and Dr. Samuel Ato Duncan, CEO of COA Herbal Mixture, for their unwavering support in bringing his movie projects to life.
