Achraf Hakimi, a Paris Saint-Germain defender, has been accused of rape by a 24-year-old woman. On February 25, the claimed incident occurred at his house in Paris.

Hakimi, on the other hand, disputes the charges, and the club has shown its support for the player during this trying period.

According to a source close to the inquiry, the woman reported the event on Sunday at a police station but did not press charges.

The public prosecutor's office in Nanterre, in Paris' western suburbs, declined to comment but acknowledged an inquiry had begun.

"The club supports the player, who has firmly denied the accusations and trusts the justice system," PSG said in a statement. "Paris St-Germain is an institution that promotes respect on and off the pitch."

Hakimi, who was born in Spain, played a significant part in helping Morocco reach the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar.

His efforts were recognised at the Best Fifa Football Awards ceremony on Monday evening in Paris when he was named to the FIFPro men's global team of the year.

During the ceremony, Hakimi appeared on stage with other prize winners, including PSG teammates Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.
