Savannah Regional Minister Warns Damongo Chieftaincy Factions Ahead Of Verdict Tomorrow

Mr. Muhazu Saeed Jibriel, the Savannah Regional Minister, has warned that the Regional Security Council, which he chairs, will not tolerate any acts of violence by any group of people or individuals following the announcement of the Damongo chieftaincy uncertainty by the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs' Judicial Committee.

The Regional Minister issued this warning while addressing chiefs and people of the Gonja kingdom at the Jakpa palace on the occasion of the 3rd-day funeral rites (Adua) of the late Gonjaland king, Yagbonwura Tuntumba Bore Essa (I) on Friday, 10th February 2023.

On February 16th, 2023, the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs judicial committee will issue its decision on the Damongo chieftaincy matter that was presented to the committee.

He emphasized that any group of people or individual who disagrees with the judicial committee's judgement can seek redress in the appeals court rather than resort to violence.

The Minister further stated that the Regional Security Council will not tolerate any acts of violence by anyone that would jeopardise the existing state of peace in the Damomgo Municipality.

"The Savannah regional security council ( REGSEC ) and the appropriate agencies are will be on the alert to clamp down troublemakers or persons who will foment trouble from either of the Damongo chieftaincy factions", he warned.
