Pastor Dies After Attempting 40-Day Fast For Jesus

A Mozambique pastor died after fasting for 40 days in an attempt to break Jesus' record on the biblical Mount of Olives.

On Wednesday, the death of Francisco Barajah, pastor and founder of the Santa Trindade Evangelical Church in Manica's central region, was confirmed.

He perished while being treated at a hospital in Beira, where he had been transported in severe condition.

He had dropped so much weight after 25 days of fasting that he couldn't stand up, bathe, or walk.

Days later, at the demand of family and believers, he was transferred to a hospital, but efforts to revive him were futile.

Due to his substantial weight loss and deformed body structure in recent days, believers at his church and his neighbours were unsurprised by the course of events.
