I Stabilized The Economy But Akufo-Addo Destroyed It - Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has stated that his government stabilised the Ghanaian economy through policies and programmes when President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo took office in 2017.

He said that Mr. Akufo-Addo merely needed to carry on from where he left the economy, but he has destroyed all accomplishments.

Speaking at the Chatham House on Friday, January 27, he said "When President Akufo-Addo came we had achieved economic stability. All they needed was to continue from there but unfortunately, this is where they have led us to."

Mr Mahama went on to say that his administration's error was not emphasising its accomplishments.

He stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) expected Ghanaians to witness the projects he had undertaken.

"We were not forceful in letting the people see what we had done, we assumed they would see. We did quite a lot," he said.

He added that "maybe next time if we get the chance, our leaders should make it a point to let the people know what we have done."

His address was on the theme "Africa’s Strategic Priorities & Global Role".
