During the altercation, shops were also set on fire, damaging costly items.

The police stated that they were still investigating the reason for the altercation, but that quiet had been restored in the neighbourhood.

Funmi Odunlami, a police spokeswoman, said the incident was being investigated.

However, locals and businessmen who were spotted regretting the tragedy stated the two groups had always coexisted amicably.
