According to rumours, Chris Hughton, the Black Stars' immediate past technical adviser, has formally applied for the vacant role of head coach of the Ghana national team.
Despite recent claims that he was on his way to becoming the head coach of Swindon Town, the ex-Brighton coach is said to have applied for the role.
Hughton was a member of Ghana's Black Stars team that competed in the recent World Cup in Qatar. He has a great grasp of the squad and its players as the technical adviser, making him a good candidate for the head coach role.
Despite his preference for the Black Stars post, Hughton is willing to return to club management if he is not chosen as head coach.
According to Henry Asante Twum, the GFA's Communications Director, over 60 coaches have applied for the open position, making it a very competitive procedure.
"Maybe over 60 applications. The Black Stars is very attractive. You cannot have Mohammed Kudus in your team and think the Black Stars is not attractive. It is an attractive brand, no doubt about that.
"The Black Stars is one of the most attractive brands on the continent. Every single day you open the GFA email, you will see someone has applied for the Black Stars coaching job," he made these remarks speaking to Asempa FM on the vacant Black Stars job.
