Zanele Sifuba, the Speaker of the ANC Free State assembly, was the subject of a leaked sex tape, which has been linked to a Nigerian man.
After Sifuba reportedly declined to pay R300 000, or 244,106.78 (GHS), in blackmail money, the young Nigerian man is said to have released the sex tape.
Screenshots from the original video that were leaked last week are thought to be what ignited the scandal.
According to Central News, both Edgar Legoale, the regional chairperson of the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL), and Malefane Bosanku Msimanga, the provincial secretary of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), have condemned the 'insensitive' circulation of pictures showing the Speaker of the Free State legislature in a nude.
The party demanded that the leaker of the sex tapes be taken into custody. Msimanga said that women and girls worldwide are equally affected by this, not only well-known women.
He continued by saying that it undercuts efforts and the struggle against femicide, sexism, and violence against women.
