According to the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority, at least 68 persons were killed when a domestic aeroplane crashed in the Pokhara region yesterday (Sunday).
According to the Voice of America, the disaster is the deadliest plane crash in Nepal in 30 years, according to authorities.
Many Nepalese rescue personnel were combing the hillside where the Yeti Airlines aircraft from Kathmandu, the capital, had crashed.
Rescue personnel were seen crawling around damaged portions of the plane, and some of the ground around the accident scene was scorched, with licks of flame evident.
According to the Aviation Safety Network database, this is Nepal's worst incident since 1992, when a Pakistan International Airlines Airbus A300 crashed into a mountainside on approach to Kathmandu, killing all 167 on board.
