Predictions of the winning team made by animals have been making the rounds on the internet as the FIFA World Cup heads to its conclusion on Sunday.

On Sunday, December 18, 2022, the FIFA World Cup 2022 will come to a finish with Argentina and France squaring off in the championship game.

Expectedly, the contest has fans fired up, with many picking Argentina as the favourite. It's interesting to note that fish, dogs, and cats frequently anticipate the outcome of the FIFA World Cup on social media.

The internet has been flooded with videos of animals offering their own predictions for the FIFA World Cup. Dogs, cats, eagles, and turtles can be seen voting for the predicted champions of the biggest football tournament in the world in one compiled video that was posted on Twitter.

Most of the animals in the aforementioned video are betting for Argentina to win the world cup for the third time in FIFA history. Argentina is the turtle's preferred country, as demonstrated in another YouTube video.

Argentina twice won the world title, in 1978 and 1986. In addition, it placed second in the competition in 1930, 1990, and 2014.

During the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, animal predictions of FIFA matches gained popularity. Paul the Octopus was the animal making the forecasts.

He gained international recognition as an animal oracle thanks to his accurate predictions during the 2010 World Cup.

Paul's keepers would give him two boxes packed with food during competitions that were adorned with the flags of the other teams.

Based on the box he opened first, Paul determined which team would win the game. He also predicted right that Spain will prevail in the 2010 FIFA World Cup final.

Paul finished with an overall success rating of 85.7% after making 12 out of 14 accurate predictions. Soon after the 2010 World Cup, Paul passed away.

Since then, several animals have attempted—but failed—to succeed in his stead as the FIFA oracle.
