By 2023, the minimum wage is expected to rise to GH¢14.88 per day, according to Ignatius Baffuor Awuah, the minister in charge of labour and employment.

The national tripartite committee and the government had finished their deliberations, the Minister announced on November 16 during a press conference in Accra, adding that "we believe now is the appropriate moment to communicate to Ghanaians on the conclusion of the negotiations."

George Fosu has been appointed the Ghana Association of Restructuring and Insolvency Advisor's new CEO.

He said that when making their decisions, the committee took into account the status of the economy, the cost of living, the long-term sustainability of businesses, and their preference for creating more jobs.

"The committee concluded on the need to increase the national daily minimum wage by 10 per cent over the 2022 national daily minimum wage which translates into new national daily minimum wage of GH¢14.88 pesewas and a cost of living allowance of 15 per cent over the 2023 national daily minimum wage.

"The effective date for the implementation of the 2023 national daily minimum wage shall be 1st January 2023.

"All establishments, institutions, organizations whose daily minimum wages are below the new rate should adjust accordingly effective 1st January 2023," he said.

Since Monday, November 14, meetings between Organized Labor, the Ghana Employers Association, and the government have been taking place to determine the national daily minimum wage for 2023.
