In the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region, David Laari, a Junior High School (JHS) student, drowned near the River Owabi in Dabaa. He was fifteen years old.

On Monday, November 7, 2022, the terrible occurrence reportedly took place when the deceased and his friends were swimming in the River Owabi.

In an interview with AMBASSADOR TV, a resident of Dabaa Obiri Yeboah described the tragic occurrence and said that "a team was sent to the scene and managed to rescue the other boy who is still alive and responding to treatment at Dabaa Government Hospital."

According to him "The team struggled before they were able to retrieve the body of the deceased after the chief of Dabaa performed some rituals"

"The students went to school and they were told that teachers are on strike so they closed. If the students were in school this unfortunate incident wouldn’t have happened" he lamented

While waiting for an autopsy, the deceased's body has been kept at Mount Sinai Morgue in Taabre.
