According to a former director general of the Criminal Investigations Department, even after his retirement from service, armed robbers continue to contact him for important information.
On Wednesday, the retired former D-G, COP Bright Oduro, made the revelation while speaking on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM.
He claims that armed robbers, some of whom are still being held or have just completed their sentences in jail, are able to phone him and provide him with crucial leads and information.
"It's because of how we handled these suspects once we had them in custody. They are still able to trust us and call with important information on various things even today since we didn't mistreat or demean them," COP Bright Oduro stated in Twi.
He claims that he gives such information to some of his boys he knows in the system when he obtains it from criminals or prisoners.
The former police chief, who was forced to go on vacation a few months before he retired in October 2017, is blaming the police hierarchy for treating him unfairly in the month before he left his position.
After 29 years of service to the Police, he lamented the way Kennedy Agyapong had been used to discredit him by accusing him of defending the actions of certain land guards in Accra.
Kennedy Agyapong, a member of parliament for Assin Central, has accused Mr Bright Oduro of having ties to land guards, whose operations Ghanaians have characterized as unlawful and concerning.
ACP Oduro denied the accusations while asserting that the Police Department ought to have authorized the prosecution of the MP.
"I informed IG. Kennedy Agyapong is wrong in what he is doing. I reported to Kan Dapaah, but to no use," he said.
Mr Bright Oduro requested David Asante-Apeatu, the retired IGP, and several surviving predecessors to be consulted by the new CID director Faustina Andoh-Coffie.
