Due to the torrential rain that flooded many areas in five municipalities and districts in the Eastern Region a few weeks ago, four people have been confirmed dead and ten others are still missing.
The deceased were from the Nsawam Adoagyiri municipality, while the missing were from the New Juaben South and New Juaben North municipalities, as well as the Akyemansa and Denkyembour districts.
The National Disaster Management Organization's (NADMO) Eastern Regional Director, Kwame Appiah Kodua, revealed this information.
Ten more people are still missing, according to Mr Kodua, who was providing updates on the situation.
He stated that NADMO was doing everything it could to find the missing folks.
Despite the fact that 17 municipalities and districts in the area have been identified as having been impacted by the floods, Mr Kodua stated that his organization was still evaluating the situation.
He said that three rivers—the Birim, the Densu, and the Ayensu—overflowed their banks, flooded numerous homes and chased out many of the residents as a result of the situation.
Mr Kodua said that several individuals were relocated when some mud structures at Akwadum in the New Juaben North Municipality and Asokore Zango collapsed.
At Akwadum, he said that 45 mud huts fell, causing thousands of Ghana cedis in losses for the residents.
