Manchester United's Mason Greenwood Charged With Attempted Rape

Mason Greenwood has been charged with attempted rape, using coercive or controlling behaviour, and assault. According to a statement from Manchester United, the player "remains suspended by the club."

The Manchester United attacker has been banned from first-team competition ever since his initial arrest in January 2022.

The team announced the ban in a statement posted to their official website: "Manchester United acknowledges that the Crown Prosecution Service has filed criminal charges against Mason Greenwood.

"He continues to be on the club's suspension list while the legal proceedings are ongoing."

Greenwood was charged with the aforementioned offences on Saturday, and the GMP confirmed that he will appear in a magistrates court on Monday. This statement follows the charges.

Greater Manchester Police said that a 21-year-old male had been charged with controlling and coercive behaviour, attempted rape, and Section 47 assault on a lady and had been placed in custody.

"On Monday, October 17, 2022, Mason Greenwood of Bowdon will appear before the Manchester & Salford Magistrates Court.

He was detained early today (Saturday, October 15) in the Trafford area.
