Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku

Kurt Edwin Simon-Okraku, president of the Ghana Football Association, has refuted reports that the Finance Ministry provided USD 800,000 to the Black Stars for their matches against Brazil and Nicaragua.

The Black Stars of Ghana played two games against Brazil and Nicaragua as part of their pre-World Cup training in Qatar in 2022.

Ghana defeated Nicaragua by a single goal while losing to Brazil by a score of 3 to 0.

According to certain allegations, the Ghana Football Association used funds from the Finance Ministry to pay for the matches.

The Ghana Football Association's President responded to the claims by saying they are untrue.

He said in a tweet shared that "I have just come out of court to read that the Ministry of Finance gave the Ghana FA USD 800,000 to honour two friendly games against Brazil and Nicaragua. FACT check! This is false. Kindly ignore".
