Ghanaian hip-hop singer Black Sherif makes his first appearance as a nominee for the 2022 MTV Europe Awards. He is up against Tems (Nigeria), Ayra Starr (Nigeria), Burna Boy (Nigeria), Zuchu (Tanzania), and Musa Keys in the Best African Award category (South Africa).
On Wednesday, October 12, 2022, the nominees were made public on MTV Europe's official website.

The multipurpose indoor venue PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf, Germany, would host the 2022 MTV Awards.
