W/R: 5 Chinese Detained In Relation To Missing Excavators In Ellembelle.

Illegal Chinese minners arrested in Ghana

Five Chinese nationals have been detained by the police in connection with the disappearance of two excavators in Ellembelle, in the Western Region.

According to a statement from the police, the five suspects were apprehended on the evening of September 7, 2022, during a special operation.


Following the recovery of one of the excavators and the detention of five additional individuals, including Kwasi Bonzoh, the District Chief Executive of Ellembelle, the incident in question.

He is anticipated to appear before the Takoradi Habour Circuit court later today.

Five charges have been brought against Mr Bonzoh.


He has been charged with assault, conspiring to commit assault, resisting arrest, and two additional offences.

On Wednesday, bail was approved for him. However, bail was not approved for his other four conspirators, who were also detained.
