At illegal mining locations near Anyinam and Akyem-Techiman in the Eastern Region, over 200 miners—the majority of whom are foreigners—have been detained.
This came after a joint security operation team in the region swooped into the Atewa Forest.
The miners were working in the forest reserve at several sites.
They were brought to Accra, where they were paraded at El Wak Stadium.
Nigerian, Burkinabe, and Togo nationals are included in the detained.
