A 25-year-old farmer who was arrested for having sexual intercourse with a six-year-old girl at Agbogbloshie in Accra has been remanded into Police custody.
It is said that the victim went to play with her friends at the home of the accused which resulted in Joshua Boyour enticing her into his room.
Boyour has entered a not guilty plea to the defilement accusation.
The case has been postponed till September 28 by the Gender-Based Violence Court at the Police Headquarters, presided over by Mrs Abena Amponsah Boasi.
It also instructed the prosecution to submit disclosures before the trial could start.
Prosecuting Detective Chief Inspector Simon Tekpor narrated that the complainant was a 34-year-old trader residing at Dansoman and the father of the victim.
He said that Boyour lived in Agbogboloshie in Accra and that the victim's mother worked there.
The accused reportedly enticed the victim to his room, undressed her, and had intercourse with her on September9, this year, at around 7:30 p.m., when the victim went to play with her friends at the address of the accused.
According to the prosecution, Boyour advised her not to tell her parents about the deed once it was done.
When the victim returned home, the complainant noticed that she was walking differently.
When questioned, the victim said that the accused was the one who had sex with her.
The Ghana Police Service's Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit in Accra received a report, and the complainant was provided with a medical report to seek medical attention.
Boyer was arrested by the Police as soon as the medical report was turned in.
