Ignatius Baffour Awuah said there was formal and informal employment, full-time and part-time, permanent and temporary, during the beginning of the 2022 Ghana Job Fair in Sunyani.
According to an examination of statistics compiled by the ministry using inputs from different Ministries, Departments, and Agencies as well as the government's flagship programs, between 2017 and 2021, the government is predicted to have produced 5,306,899 jobs.
He said that several government initiatives had contributed to the creation of these employments.
In Sunyani, Bono Region, the Ghana Job Fair 2022, Green Edition, debuted with the slogan "Connecting Talents and Opportunities."
The Ghanaian-German Centre for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration is organizing the job fair, along with the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations and other partners.
The sector minister promised that government efforts to maintain such job possibilities would increase.
“That is jobs that guarantee adequate income security, social security, provide adequate social protection, protect and promote the rights of workers, encourage unionization and promote social dialogue”.
“If for nothing at all, we should strive to secure the welfare and wellbeing of vulnerable workers in pursuit of the green agenda. Otherwise, the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development may not be attainable”, the Minister assured.
