Armed men from the Ghana Police Service are providing security for workers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) as they work in the Krobo District.
The ECG workers together with their armed security are in the area to read meters, check illegal connections and undertake pre-installation surveys.
The pre-installation surveys will pave way for the installation of the prepaid meters in the area.
The team in the area to conduct this exercise was drawn from ECG head office, Tema and Krobo district led by Edward Ochire, the District Manager.
The exercise which started in Kpong is expected to extend to other parts of the district in the coming days.
According to the Sakyiwaa Mensah, Tema Regional Public Relations Officer for ECG, the undertaking exercise needs optimum cooperation from customers and it will be an offence if any customer does not allow access to their meter.
The staff can be identified by their ID cards and ECG reflector vest. Customers must allow access to their meters which is very critical and doing otherwise is a grave offence, she stated.
ECG has about 60,000 post-paid meter users in the Krobo District.
