Three female students of the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Municipality has been impregnated by one teacher.
In the Central Region of Ghana, it is alleged that a teacher has impregnated three girls in the same class.
This revelation was made by Dr Kyeremeh Tawiah Dobone who happens to be a lecturer with the University of Cape Coast Counselling Centre.
Dr Kyeremeh in his speech which was delivered in Kwadaso in the Ashanti Region in a seminar organized by the Ghana Education Service Counselling and Guidance Centre also revealed that seven other girls have been impregnated by their close relatives in the same municipality.
He admitted that the COVID-19 restrictions exposed many children to various forms of abuse including sexual abuse.
Kwadaso Municipal Educational Coordinator of the Counsellor and Guidance Unit of the Ghana Education Service also added that sexual abuse from teachers goes against the code of ethics of the association and any teacher who gets themselves into this act will be punished.
According to him, several students who are victims of sexual abuse from teachers fail to report to appropriate authorities thereby making it hard to punish such teachers.
