Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer (LGBT+) right has been the topic in most Ghanaian homes after some offices of this group were opened in some parts of Ghana.
Aside from the push and pressure from some international organizations, some local people are also advocating for the legalization of homosexual marriage in Ghana.
Although most of the Ghanaian populace are against the legalization and acceptance of this group, some celebrities have openly and publicly supported the act.
Most of these celebrities after openly supporting the LGBTQ+ group have lost most of their followers.
Others have received a lot of attacks verbally from different angles.
Here are some of the Ghanaian celebrities who have openly supported the LGBTQ+ group in the country.
Wanlov The Kubolor
Emmanuel Osei Bonsu, popularly known as Wanlov the Kubolor is one of the celebrities in Ghana who is willingly fighting and advocating for the LGBTQ+ group to be accepted in the country.
Just like her sister, Deborah Vannessa, he has been in support of the group since the whole LGBTQ+ legalization brouhaha started in the country.
His social media pages especially Twitter has a lost of tweets and retweet which shows that he is definitely behind the LGBTQ+ group in Ghana.
Bridget Otoo
Bridget Otoo is probably the first media personality to publicly support the legalization of the LGBTQ+ group in Ghana.
Ever since the whole story about the legalization of same-sex marriage erupted in Ghana, she has been one of the consistent advocates for the group despite attacks from followers on social media.
In recent times most of her posts on Twitter are dedicated to advocating for the LGBTQ+ group in Ghana.
Sister Deborah
Deborah Vanessa, popularly known as Sister Deborah is also one of the Ghanaian musicians who has and is still advocating for the legalization of same-sex marriage in Ghana.
Just like his brother Wanlov The Kubolor, she has also dedicated her Twitter page promoting content related to LGBTQ+.
Most of her tweets and retweets are focused on advocating for the Group.
Pappy Kojo
Jason Gaisie, also known as Pappy Kojo is so far the only musician from Takoradi who has come out to support the fight for the legalization of same-sex marriage in Ghana.
In recent news, the Takoradi based musician revealed that he is gay and his female friend Yvonne Nelson is his pimp.
The revelation has triggered a lot of reactions from fans as well as industry players such as Pope Skinny.
Caroline Sampson
Caroline Sampson, also known as Caroline4real actually didn't say or write anything that shows her support for the legalization of the LGBT group in Ghana but some Twitter posts she retweeted on her page make some of us believe she is actually in support of the LGBT group.
Although she didn't add any caption to most of the LGBT related posts she retweeted but a celebrity will obviously not retweet a post like that if they are not in support of the group.
One of the tweets she retweeted was the one that is requesting people to donate to the LGBT group in Ghana.
Juliet Ibrahim
In the Ghanaian movie industry, Ghallywood and Nollywood actress Juliet Ibrahim also supports the legalization of same-sex marriage in Ghana.
In a post on social media the actress blast Ghanaians who are against the LGBTQ+ group in Ghana and even threatens to expose some big men in Ghana who are already part of the LGBTQ+.
After receiving some backlash from fans and followers, the actress who recently got married in Nigeria deleted his post advocating for the legalization of same-sex marriage in Ghana.
Kwabena Kwabena
Another Ghanaian musician who has also provided his support for the legalization of same-sex marriage in Ghana is Kwabena Kwabena.
His main concerns were how some Ghanaians especially some men of God are spreading hate towards the LGBTQ+ group in the country.
Michael Essien
In the world of sports, Michael is so for the only Ghanaian sportsman who has publicly supported the LGBTQ+ group in Ghana.
Essien is probably the same-sex advocate in Ghana who has been largely affected after declaring his for the group.
The former Chelsea player declared his support to the LGBTQ+ group in Ghana on his Twitter handle and within 24 hours of the tweet he lost more than half of the Twitter followers he had before the tweet.
This is a prove of how his fans and followers are disappointed in him.
Essien later got rid of the tweet.
Kwame A Plus
Kwame Asare Obeng popularly known as A Plus is also on the list.
The controversial musician didn't actually didn't talk or write anything that shows he is advocating for the legalization of the LGBTQ+ group in Ghana.
In one of A Plus' Facebook posts, he wrote a public disclaimer that he has never advocated for any gay and does not support same-sex marriage.
In the same post, he made it clear that he will never spend time worrying about what two grown men do in their room.
A Plus also went further to ask prosecutors of the LGBTQ+ groups in Ghana who claim the act is against our religious and cultural values that do animals also give blowjobs or oral sex since one of their arguments is that 'even animals don't indulge in homosexuals.
As I wrote earlier, A Plus has never advocated for the legalization of same-sex marriage in Ghana but he sees no sense in attack those who want to indulge in the act.
Other celebrities like Peace Hyde, Borris Kodjoe, Idris Elba, Naomi Campbell etc, has also supported the move to legalize same-sex marriage in Ghana.
