A peaceful day turned into a horrifying ordeal for a commercial driver working with the transport company, Bolt, when he was brutally assaulted by a man in a military uniform.
The incident occurred after the driver had confronted the soldier for reckless driving, a decision that left him severely injured and unconscious.
According to witnesses, the confrontation arose when the soldier attempted a wrongful overtaking maneuver, putting both vehicles and their occupants in harm's way.
The driver responded by signaling his disapproval, touching the back of the soldier's car in an effort to avoid an accident.
Little did he know that his actions would provoke a violent reaction from the military man.
Eyewitnesses recalled that the soldier, in a fit of rage, pounced on the driver, stabbing him and delivering merciless blows until he fell unconscious.
The injured driver was rushed to Deseret Hospital in Accra for immediate medical attention.
One passenger, Michelle Frimpong, who was inside the assaulted person's car during the incident, narrated the harrowing experience:
"There was this 4×4 that was behind us, and he did a wrongful overtaking and got in the middle of the road. So then it was too obvious, either we skid off the road or we allow him to use his car to scratch our car. Then the bolt driver stretched out his hand and touched the back of his car. And we said that if you wanted a way, show a traffic indicator and don't do a wrongful overtaking."
She continued, "So just a few minutes, we saw that they had come to park in front of our car. Then this man came down, opened the door of our car and pulled the bolt driver out of the car. Then the soldier guy came out of the car, pulled him back, and closed the car. So it was the people around who said that he was stabbed, so when I got out of the passenger's side, I realized blood oozing out of his head. So we had to rush him to the hospital."
The news of this violent incident has sparked outrage among the public, who are calling for a thorough investigation into the matter and appropriate sanctions for the soldier involved.
The incident raises concerns about the use of excessive force and highlights the importance of addressing road rage and reckless driving incidents.
Authorities have been urged to take swift action to ensure justice is served and to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
The transport company, Bolt, has also been called upon to cooperate fully with the investigation and provide support to the injured driver during his recovery.
