Six-Year-Old Boasts About Shooting Virginia Teacher Abigail Zwerner: Unsealed Court Documents Reveal Shocking Details

Virginia Teacher Abigail Zwerner

Court documents recently unsealed have shed light on a shocking incident where a six-year-old student shot his teacher, Abigail "Abby" Zwerner, earlier this year.

The incident took place at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News, Virginia, sending shockwaves through the community and raising concerns about school safety.

According to the unsealed court documents, the young boy, whose identity remains protected, reportedly boasted about the incident, claiming "I shot [her] dead."

The records indicate that after being restrained following the shooting, the boy admitted, "I did it" and further revealed, "I got my mom's gun last night."

The shooting occurred on January 6th, when the boy, using his mother's firearm, shot Ms. Zwerner in the hand and chest.

Despite the traumatic incident, Ms. Zwerner survived, but she had to undergo multiple surgeries as a result of her injuries.

The incident has sparked a legal battle, with Ms. Zwerner filing a $40 million lawsuit earlier this year.

The lawsuit alleges gross negligence on the part of school officials for ignoring warning signs and failing to address the child's history of violent behavior.

The boy's mother, Deja Taylor, is now facing serious charges in connection with the incident.

Taylor has been charged with felony child neglect and misdemeanor recklessly leaving a loaded firearm accessible to a child.

Additionally, she has been charged with unlawfully using a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm and making false statements during the purchase of a firearm.

If convicted, she could face up to 25 years in prison. Taylor is scheduled for sentencing in October.

The newly released documents also reveal a chilling detail from the incident. Ms. Zwerner reportedly told the police that she saw the child pull a firearm out of his jacket pocket and point it at her, saying, "What are you doing with that?"

Moments later, the gun went off, leaving Ms. Zwerner injured and traumatized.

Furthermore, the court documents mention another disturbing incident involving the same student during his time in kindergarten.

A retired teacher reported to the police that the boy had choked her to the point where she struggled to breathe.
