In a move aimed at fostering trade and economic growth between the two nations, China has inaugurated a state-of-the-art visa application center in Accra.

The center, set to open its doors to the public on Friday, August 11, 2023, promises seamless and high-quality visa services for Ghanaians seeking to engage in business and trade, education, and tourism in China.

Lu Kun, the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, emphasized the significance of this new development in strengthening bilateral trade relations.

He noted, "China-Ghana bilateral relations have continued to deepen, founded on mutual trust and close cooperation in various fields," underlining the strategic efforts of both countries leadership.

Ghana's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mrs. Mavis Nkansah Boadu, hailed the establishment of the visa center as a remarkable milestone in the growing ties between the two countries. 

he highlighted the center's role in streamlining visa application processes, thereby facilitating increased tourism, business ventures, academic collaborations, and cultural exchanges.

China, being the world's second-largest economy, is Ghana's foremost trading partner and a significant source of foreign investment.

The trade volume between the two nations reached US$10.27 billion in 2022, reflecting the robust economic relationship between them.

Ms. Xu Yeping, Deputy General Manager of the Visa Department at CTG Travel Services Corporation Limited, affirmed the center's commitment to simplifying the visa application process for the applicants.

This initiative aligns with China's efforts to optimize COVID-19 policies, leading to a surge in visa applicants for trade and business purposes.

The inauguration of the visa application center underscores China's dedication to deepening its engagement with Ghana, not only economically but also through enhanced people-to-people exchanges.
