Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, on his tour of the Central Region, made a significant promise to New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters.
He assured them that if elected in 2024, each of the 275 (likely to be 276) constituencies will receive at least 10 substantive appointments in his government.
The move aims to empower constituencies and reduce grievances among the grassroots when appointments are made.
Bawumia, campaigning for the 2024 Presidential Candidacy of the NPP, believes that this initiative will involve various stakeholders, including polling station executives, coordinators, Council of Elders, patrons, and Members of Parliament.
The appointees will hold positions such as Ambassadors, Deputy Ambassadors, CEOs, Deputy CEOs, board of directors, and heads of agencies.
He explained, When we do that, all the constituencies will be empowered, and the pressure will reduce for Hawa [Koomson].
By distributing appointments in this manner, Bawumia aims to ensure that the benefits of government reach all levels, particularly those at the constituency level.
The NPP is set to hold a special congress on August 26 to prune the number of candidates, currently at 10, to 5 for the upcoming November 4 presidential primaries.
Bawumia's promise comes as part of his bid to secure the party's nomination for the 2024 presidential race.
