In a heartbreaking incident that has left a community in mourning, a leisurely swim turned into a tragic loss of life for a 16-year-old boy.
The young boy, identified as Godsway, drowned while swimming with his friends in River Nsakina at Amasaman Odumase near Pokuase in the Ga West Municipality.
The tragedy unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, casting a pall of sorrow over the tight-knit community.
Godsway was among a group of nine friends who had gathered for what should have been an enjoyable outing by the river.
The intention was simple: a refreshing swim and a day of laughter.

It took a joint effort by the police to retrieve Godsway's lifeless body from the water, adding to the somber atmosphere that now hung over the scene.
As the community mourns the loss of a young life, investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the drowning have commenced.
Authorities are working to piece together the events that led to this unfortunate incident, hoping to shed light on what went wrong during what should have been an innocent and enjoyable day by the river.
