At the Met Gala on Monday, tennis legend Serena Williams announced that she is expecting her second child.
The 23-time Grand Slam singles winner told journalists at the New York fashion show that she and her husband Alexis Ohanian were "three of us" when they arrived on the red carpet.
In October 2017, the couple welcomed Olympia, their first child.
Williams stated in an article for Vogue magazine the previous year that she intended to stop playing tennis and concentrate on starting a family.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art hosts the annual Met Gala, an invitation-only fundraising event for the Costume Institute.
Williams said on Monday that she was "so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala" in a TikTok post.
The evening's chair is Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue, a personal friend of Williams who often attends the yearly event.
Roger Federer, a fellow tennis champion like Williams, was also present. Along with Wintour, Grammy-winning singer Dua Lipa, actress Penélope Cruz, and writer, actor, and producer Michaela Coel, the Swiss served as co-chair of the event.
Karlie Kloss, a model, also announced her second pregnancy there.
